Many women golfers find that Florida might just be the perfect spot for a sunny golf vacation. With golf courses from north to south, you may just find the perfect golf location for you to return to year after year.

Amelia Island

PGA tour and the Champions Tour, this place offers some of the world’s best golf courses and resorts. One of the most comprehensive golfing resorts can be found at Amelia Island, Florida along the coastline. The Ocean Links offers five oceanfront golf holes and a course that meanders through a unique coastal maritime hammock. It’s been named as one of the fifty best courses for women by Golf for Women. The course winds through six miles of natural sand dunes and seaside terrain.

Also on Amelia Island is the Amelia Island Long Point Course. This course offers a wide variety of scenery, from oak and pine forests, wild marshes and scenic oceanfront dunes. Water hazards are located at eight different locations in this par 72 course. See the breathtaking views of the Amelia River.

Oak Marsh on Amelia Island is one of the premier courses at the Amelia Island Plantation. Designed by Pete Dye in 1972, this 6500-yard par-72 course offers some of the most demanding golf on the island. The Oak Marsh Course is named after the centuries-old oak trees surrounding this 18-hole course. To add to the challenge, 14 out of 18 holes offer water traps in the designs. Oak Marsh has been included in Golf Digest’s prestigious list of the “Top 75 Resort Courses in the U.S.” and Amelia Island Plantation is a Golf Magazine “1996-2004 Silver Medal Golf Resort”.

South Western Florida

Way down south in southwestern Florida, there are dozens of courses to try your hand in. Some of the best include the Legacy Golf Club at Lakewood Ranch that offers a level of service and conditions that rival the best world-class facilities that women golfers have come to love. This is a championship 18-hole golf course with an Arnold Palmer signature design; the course offers natural wetlands, native grasslands and towering pine trees.

Another lovely course is located in the heart of Manatee County in Southwestern, Florida, called The Links at Greenfield Plantation. It is filled with undulating greens that wind their way through wildlife-rich wetlands and lakes. It provides just the right kind of challenge in a beautiful setting. It offers an on-the-course deli service and a GPS system for you to track your swing distances.

Naples, Florida, offers its own set of Championship golf courses. The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club offers the best of golfing vacations for women. Its 18-hole course measures 6,488 yards and a 72-par course. Built in the late 1920’s, it is the oldest course in the Naples area. It has since been redesigned and modified as recently as 1998 and includes a full-service pro shop and locker room facilities. Individual and group lessons are available through their golf school. South Eastern Florida
